Can you help?

We provide traditional Teaching-Stories from Central Asia and the Middle East collected from oral and written sources and retold especially for early readers by the author and educator Idries Shah. Although Pakistan’s national language is Urdu and their official language English, the majority of children’s primary languages are different. Hoopoe has this series in four language editions: Urdu-English, Urdu-Sindhi, Urdu-Pashto and Urdu-Balochi, and we hope to develop Urdu-Punjabi editions before too long. Funds are needed to do this and to print and distribute the editions we have.

This year we would like to provide an additional 3,000 Non-formal Basic Education Community (BECS) schools with a set of 10 Hoopoe Books by Idries Shah. Last year we sent a set to over 3,000 schools and attendance in one district at least has increased from 60–70% up to 100%, because all the children want to read the stories and play with the puppets.

We are looking for companies and other funding sources to help with the costs of printing and distribution. If you can help us, please email us at [email protected]
